Summary (non-binding): You are responsible for the content you upload (including PDFs and slides). If your material is not open-access or you lack rights, do not upload it. By uploading, you assign ownership of uploaded presentation files to Paperet, Inc. and grant us broad rights to host, reproduce, distribute, and re-use content across our services and channels (including LinkedIn/YouTube embeds). Read the full terms and the required readings below.

Required Reading & Resources

Please read or skim these summaries before uploading any files. They explain what you can share, how attribution works, and how we handle distribution to platforms like LinkedIn and YouTube.

Open Access, Publisher Policies & Self-Archiving before uploading PDFs

Only upload PDFs you have the right to share. Many journals allow sharing of preprints or accepted manuscripts but restrict the final formatted PDF. Check your publisher’s self-archiving (green OA) policy and embargo periods.

Rule of thumb: If you are unsure a PDF is shareable, upload a slide deck or abstract instead, and link to the official version.
Attribution, Third-Party Figures & Datasets

When reusing figures, tables, or data, include proper citation and respect license terms. For CC-BY content, include author, title, source, and license. For proprietary content, obtain permission.

  • Sample attribution format: Figure: [Author], “[Title],” [Year], License: CC-BY-4.0, Source: URL
  • Dataset license notes (fill in): Your Dataset License Page
Distribution & Embedding (LinkedIn, YouTube, oEmbed)

Your content may be embedded, excerpted, and promoted on third-party platforms for discovery and marketing. Those platforms have their own terms and analytics models.

Recording, Streaming & Public Q&A

Live sessions may be recorded and published. Your voice, slides, and chat contributions can appear in public archives and promotional clips.

Privacy & Analytics

Public profiles and presentations are visible. We may show view/download counts, likes, comments, and referral sources in aggregate. See Privacy Policy for data practices.

If you are a consumer and the laws of your country of residence require the application of its non-waivable consumer protection laws, those laws will apply in addition to this clause.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS, seated in San Francisco, California, conducted in English, under its applicable rules. Either party may bring an individual claim in a court of competent jurisdiction for temporary or injunctive relief to prevent actual or threatened infringement or misuse of intellectual property or confidential information. Small-claims actions may be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction.

Class-Action Waiver. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you and we waive any right to participate in a class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding. If a court finds the arbitration requirement or class-action waiver unenforceable for a particular claim, then that claim (and only that claim) must be brought exclusively in the courts having jurisdiction over San Francisco, California, and you and we consent to personal jurisdiction there.
